Short answer: a golf glove goes on your lead hand, the one at the top of the grip. Right-handed golfers wear it on the left hand. Left-handed golfers wear it on the right hand. So if you play left-handed, the glove you want is a right-hand glove, which is why lefty gloves are often listed as “right hand golf gloves”.
Which glove do I need?
| You swing | Your lead (top) hand | Nova glove to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Right-handed | Left | Left (for a right-handed golfer) |
| Left-handed | Right | Right (for a left-handed golfer) |
Not sure which way you swing? Think about where you stand: a right-handed golfer stands with the left shoulder pointing at the target, a lefty with the right shoulder. The glove goes on the hand nearest the target.
Why the lead hand?
Your lead hand sits at the top of the club and does most of the holding. That is where you want the grip and the feel, so that is the hand the glove is made for. Some golfers wear a second glove on the other hand, but one glove on the lead hand is the standard.
